DRINKOTEC integrates card payment into its beverage dispensing systems
A 100% self-service integrated solution
In increasing demand for several years, the trend towards self-service has taken off again due to the current pandemic context. Thanks to a partnership with Be-Cash, a company specialising in payment solutions, DRINKOTEC is inaugurating its first 100% self-service beverage systems, including the final payment of the consumer, thus reducing any interaction with a waiter.
Restaurants, hotels and event organisers can now respond to the growing demand of their customers to be served quickly, as they appreciate the time and autonomy offered by these new technologies. All the more so as the solution makes it possible to limit contact between people and thus comply with the health measures in force.
Be-Cash and DRINKOTEC worked hand in hand to quickly come up with a reliable and secure solution. This partnership has gone through an initial development phase with the provision of the equipment. DRINKOTEC’s R&D team was able to use the resources of the myPOS developer portal to interface the payment terminals with DRINKOTEC’s beverage dispenser programme for optimum results.
“The partnership between Drinkotec and Be-Cash is going very well, there is a lot of communication and we feel that a synergy is born. […] It is by working together that we can reach new heights”.
Franck-Eric Flegbo, CEO of DRINKOTEC
Thanks to this integration, the end customer benefits from an improved user experience from start to finish, giving them significant flexibility in the way they wish to regulate their consumption. No more long queues at the corner of a bar to get served, now the customer decides when to satisfy their thirst. This approach has the double advantage of increasing the retailer’s turnover while reducing waste (thanks to the integrated technology developed by DRINKOTEC). In other words, “More value, less waste”, according to the slogan that defines DRINKOTEC’s vision.

Be-Cash equips the TRAVYS bus network
Be-Cash equips the TRAVYS bus network
Rapid implementation in a difficult context.
Major player in the mobility sector in the North of Vaud and Vallée de Joux, TRAVYS SA is a public transport company, operating a wide road and rail network. Wishing to continue to offer its customers a safe and high-quality service, despite the health crisis, the company has taken important measures within a short amount of time. In order to reduce the risks associated with the use of cash and to offer a secure means of payment, TRAVYS logically turned to the installation of payment terminals on board of its buses.
“The Be-Cash solution is very advantageous to purchase. The price of the devices is up to 10 times cheaper than other solutions. In addition, there is no need for a mobile phone subscription for the transmission of the data, as the SIM card is included with the purchase”.
Pierre-Yves Roberti, Sales & Distribution Manager
Contacted in mid-August, and within few days, Be-Cash delivered 90 myPOS Combo payment terminals. These terminals, easy to use and vibration-resistant, proved to be perfectly adapted to the situation and at an unbeatable price. Furthermore, it was crucial that TRAVYS kept full control over the data and programming of their devices, which is guaranteed on a daily basis by the access to a fully secure and configurable interface.
“The responsiveness of Be-Cash and the solutions found in the very short time were very much appreciated”.
Michaël Kottelat, Deputy Head of Finance Department
Thanks to this, the public transport company was able to remove cash payments in record time. The TRAVYS bus network thus becomes one of the first services of this type in Switzerland, to be equipped with cashless payment in their vehicles. Transport tickets can now be paid contactless with a credit card, debit card, as well as with a watch or a connected mobile phone (Apple Pay or Google Pay technology).

SIX bought by a French group
Shortly after swallowing Aduno, SIX has sold its Payment Services unit (in charge of payment solutions) to the French group Worldline for CHF 2.75 billion.
Last November, as part of its strategic reorientation, SIX announced that it wanted to give up its credit card business.
A TEN YEARS COMMITMENT
The current management and over 1,300 Swiss and European employees of SIX Payment Services will be transferred to the French company. Both companies have committed to collaborate for a period of ten years. Worldline is also taking a stake in the company TWINT, in charge of the development of the eponymous payment app, for an amount of 15 to 20 million euros.
The name SIX Payment Services will remain on the market until further notice. Worldline will thus be able to “benefit from the strong and successful SIX brand in its existing markets,” the statement said.
A REORGANIZATION IN DEPTH
Born in 2008 from the merger of SWX Group (Swiss stock exchange), Telekurs Group (information and financial services) and SIS Group (clearing), SIX is controlled by 130 financial institutions, which also represent its main users. Credit Suisse and UBS alone hold nearly 30% of the company.
“One hundred million savings planned”
The company intends to focus on infrastructure services for its shareholders, namely securities transactions, payment transactions and financial information. SIX was planning to sell its majority stake in the card and payment terminal business, it is now done.
